About Jennifer Ann Griggs
Jennifer always had a love and passion for music as a child and young adult, performing in choir as well as accompanying for recitals all through school. Upon graduation from Point Pleasant Borough High School in 1988, she was the recipient of two music scholarships. She attended undergraduate classes in music through Mason Gross School of the Arts at Douglass College, Rutgers University. After marrying and starting her family, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities with her concentration in Music History from Georgian Court College (now, University). In addition, Jennifer was awarded the Jean Kaye Selander Memorial Award for highest achievement in the study of Music. In 1997, the New Jersey Department of Education granted Jennifer her Certificate of Eligibility as a Teacher of Music. Jennifer also relishes the opportunity to continue her studies by participating in Piano Pedagogy workshops through Westminster Choir College, Rider University.
Since graduation, she has enjoyed teaching in private school settings, including the Monmouth Adult Education Commission (MAECOM), the First Presbyterian School of Music in Manasquan, NJ and Clarizio Music in Point Pleasant, NJ. Jennifer also treasured her time at St. Thomas Christian Academy in Brick, NJ as their General Music Teacher from 2000 to 2002. Additionally, she has performed as a professional musician in group and solo settings, an accompanist for vocalists,(most recently for the Chorale at the Four Seasons in Wall, NJ), and a church pianist for St. Martha's Church in Point Pleasant, NJ.
Her first love will always remain the teaching of piano students in her home studio. Her welcoming and relaxed style is supportive and encouraging, while developing the student's full understanding of theory and technique. As a result, a high percentage of her students have been introduced to her from parent referrals.
